When it comes ammo things can get quite confusing. They is a huge range of different dart out there and getting the wrong one can lead to some serious disappointment – who wants to jam their blaster when they load up a MEGA dart on an Elite blaster?

Our guide to the different types of dart refill aims to make you feel a bit more confident about how to stock your blaster and help you distinguish between the “must haves” and the purely aesthetic. Many of the darts feature some unique characteristics so be sure to have a good read before making your decision.

Elite Dart Refill

NERF N-Strike Elite 30-Dart Refill

“N-Strike warriors lose when they run out of ammo”. These are your basic N-Strike Elite darts featuring some nice decoration and are are compatible with any N-Strike Elite blaster.

Coming in packs of 30 these are the easy choice for dart refills, the pack listed here includes 20 Elite darts and 10 “Deco Darts” (just in cases you wanted to glitz up your blasting somewhat).

MEGA Dart Refill Pack

NERF N-Strike Elite Mega 10 Dart Refill Pack

MEGA darts are a little bigger than standard Elite ammo (Elite darts measure around 7.2 CM and Mega measure 9.0 CM). As these darts are larger, they can’t be used with all guns but if your blaster has “MEGA” emblazoned on the side you can be confident they will fit

MEGA darts have the following characteristics: 1. They are larger 2. They are red 3. They make a great whistling noise as they fly through the air! If you want to inspire some fear on the blaster field our recommendation is to grab yourself some of these bad boys.

ULTRA Darts

NERF Ultra Darts

ULTRA darts make use of “Aerofin” technology – inbuilt fins located at the bottom of the dart topped off with a streamlined dart head which Hasbro claim is the secret behind the impressive 120ft range. The darts themselves are a little less flexible than their MEGA or Elite cousins, built from a special “Ultra foam”.

Ultra Sonic Screamers

NERF Ultra Sonic Screamer Darts

If 125ft shooting range isn’t enough for you – how about darts that scream as they fly through the air? The UTLRA Sonic Screamer Dart variant has you covered. They really do think of everything eh?

Doomlands 2169 Dart Refill

NERF Doomlands 2169 dart Refill Pack

Doomlands darts are compatible with any Doomlands 2169, Elite or Zombie Strike blaster. The Doomlands darts are orange in color and feature black rubber tips. There is no additional functionality but they do include some lovely decoration.

If you really lover the Doomlands range and what to take your customization to the next level then these are a must have!

NERF Missile

NERF N-Strike Elite Missile

NERF Missiles are only compatible with guns which explicitly specify that they are compatible (the Tri-Strike Blaster for example). The refill pack comes with 3 official missiles made of soft foam and featuring black wings at the bottom. If you want to do some heavy duty blaster then you will need to pick up a few of these.

Zombie Strike Dart Refill Pack

NERF Zombie Strike 30 Dart Refill Pack

Now these darts don’t really have any special features but the green zombie theme is pretty cool…The Zombie Strike refill pack will work with your Zombie and N-Strike blasters as usual. With plenty of options when it come to the type of ammo you want these are more of an aesthetic choice. If you are going for a zombie wasteland vibe then these are most likely for you.

Rebelle Dart Refill Pack

NERF Rebelle 12 Dart Refill Pack

Another dart with a focus on looking good. The Rebelle dart refill pack features 12 additional darts for your standard NERF Blasters and it works with the Rebelle Crossbow. The Rebelle refill features 6 unique patterns which are rather nice to look at but may not add much to your blaster game. Much like the Zombie darts these are for the more aesthetically minded. Who said blasting couldn’t look good?

Suction Darts

Nerf Suction Darts, 16 pk

These are a lot of fun. With suction tips the Suction Darts are a great addition to any NERF armory. Perhaps you are looking to get a dart stuck your friend (or co-workers) head or you just fancy decorating a window with as many as possible! The Suction Darts work with most front loaded blasters.

Tag Darts

NERF Dart Tag Dart Refill (Pack of 36)

Ever score a direct hit on your opponent only for them to pretend it never happened? Not any more! Tag Darts will stick to pretty much any fabric surface, so as long as everyone is wearing clothes, you will never have an issue with cheaters again.

These darts come in packs of 36 and work with the majority of new front end loaded blasters. It is worth mentioning that they are slightly more expensive but at the end of the day, who can put a price on seeing your friend walking around looking like a NERF pincushion?

Rebelle Secrets Spies Message Darts

NERF Rebelle Secrets Spies Message Darts

Rebelle Secrets Spies message darts are a pretty nifty. In the pack you will find 8 reusable message darts, a special pen for writing secret messages and the double decoder to reveal your the secrets. If you need to send top secret orders across the blasting field or just fancy firing funny messages back and forth with your friends, this is the refill for you.

Elite Glow In The Dark Clip System Darts

NERF N-Strike Elite Glow In The Dark Clip System Darts 12 Pk

If you are ever looking to do some nocturnal blasting then you should probably pick up some glow in the dark ammo. There is nothing more fun that seeing these glow munitions whiz past your head when all of the lights off -just watch out for the furniture in the dark…

It is worth mentioning that if you want to keep the eerie glow for the foreseeable future then it may be worth investing in the Firefly Mission kit (which can be found here). The kit “recharges” the darts allowing for hours of fun in dark.
